The future of CARES

FavorSA will play a leading role for the first 2 years of the Hout Bay CARES project, providing training and support. From year 3 onwards more responsibility for the day-to-day running will be handed over to the Hangberg and I.Y community and local staff with FavorSA only being involved in a supportive and supervisory capacity.

With the South African Police Services reporting the trebling of drug-related crimes in Cape Town over 5 years to over 60 000 incidents, there is an imperative need for projects like Hout Bay CARES in areas across the city.

CARES will in the nearest future open a satellite office in Imitzamo Yethu township and aims to extend its reach even further. CARES has already identified several communities fx. Lavender Hill, Ward 57+55 and Retreat that are in desperate situations. Lavender Hill CARES, Ward 57+55 CARES, Retreat CARES projects would be critical in enhancing the wellbeing of these individuals, families and communities.
